Look beneath the resemblance

Type 2 & Type 3

Both may read a room well, work hard, and want their contribution to matter.

The difference to explore

What is the behavior trying to do?

Two often seeks closeness through being helpful or needed. Three often seeks value through achievement or a successful contribution. Notice what kind of recognition you miss most.

Use an actual moment

Turn recognition into reflection.

Recall one recent moment when you felt defensive or stuck. Which concern was more present: “To feel loved and connected through care for others.” or “To feel valuable through what you can accomplish, whether or not others see it.”? Describe what you wanted to protect before deciding which type fits.

Try this over three days

Recall two contributions: one that made someone feel cared for, and one that produced a useful result. For each, record what response you missed. Notice whether personal importance through care or worth through accomplishment carries more weight.

There is room to remain undecided.

You can relate to both descriptions. Look for the motivation that recurs across settings, and include examples that challenge your first impression. This comparison adds reflection, not a new test score.
