Look beneath the resemblance

Type 7 & Type 8

Both may move quickly, express strong preferences, and resist being constrained.

The difference to explore

What is the behavior trying to do?

Seven may seek another option when blocked. Eight may push through the obstacle to protect agency. Notice whether you most want an escape from limitation or the power to meet it directly.

Use an actual moment

Turn recognition into reflection.

Recall one recent moment when you felt defensive or stuck. Which concern was more present: “To stay free, fulfilled, and open to worthwhile possibilities.” or “To keep agency and protect yourself and the people who matter to you.”? Describe what you wanted to protect before deciding which type fits.

Try this over three days

When an everyday plan is blocked, pause before acting. Write what would feel relieving: another appealing way forward or restored power to respond directly. Notice what you seek when both routes are available.

There is room to remain undecided.

You can relate to both descriptions. Look for the motivation that recurs across settings, and include examples that challenge your first impression. This comparison adds reflection, not a new test score.
