Look beneath the resemblance

Type 6 & Type 7

Both may think ahead and create multiple plans or possibilities.

The difference to explore

What is the behavior trying to do?

Six may use options to prepare for what could fail. Seven may use them to preserve freedom and enjoyment. Notice whether a backup plan mainly offers security or relief from limitation.

Use an actual moment

Turn recognition into reflection.

Recall one recent moment when you felt defensive or stuck. Which concern was more present: “To find trustworthy support and a secure way forward.” or “To stay free, fulfilled, and open to worthwhile possibilities.”? Describe what you wanted to protect before deciding which type fits.

Try this over three days

Write one backup plan for an ordinary event, then pause before adding another. Note what each extra option is meant to relieve: an uncovered risk or the possibility of being stuck in an unwanted experience.

There is room to remain undecided.

You can relate to both descriptions. Look for the motivation that recurs across settings, and include examples that challenge your first impression. This comparison adds reflection, not a new test score.
