Look beneath the resemblance

Type 3 & Type 4

Both may care about identity, expression, and how their contribution is recognized.

The difference to explore

What is the behavior trying to do?

Three may adapt toward a valued image of success. Four may protect what feels personally authentic, even when it is less widely valued. Notice what happens when recognition and authenticity pull apart.

Use an actual moment

Turn recognition into reflection.

Recall one recent moment when you felt defensive or stuck. Which concern was more present: “To feel valuable through what you can accomplish, whether or not others see it.” or “To understand and express a meaningful, authentic identity.”? Describe what you wanted to protect before deciding which type fits.

Try this over three days

Choose a small piece of work with room for personal expression. Note one change that would make it more recognizable as successful and one that would make it feel more specifically yours. Explore why either change feels important before choosing.

There is room to remain undecided.

You can relate to both descriptions. Look for the motivation that recurs across settings, and include examples that challenge your first impression. This comparison adds reflection, not a new test score.
